There is no question that Dejan Kulusevski has settled in and adapted exceptionally well to the Premier League, but it seems that he is doing better in England than he was in Italy. In this article, I will give my opinions on why Dejan Kulusevski is achieving so much at Tottenham and showing more class than he was in Italy.
Tottenham Hotspur signed Dejan Kulusevski in the January transfer market of 2022, with the Tottenham fans not knowing what to expect. However, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici knew what Dejan Kulusevski was capable of. Previously signing the Swede at Juventus, Fabio Paratici negotiated a loan move with Juventus to bring the 22-year-old winger to North London. Antonio Conte reportedly approved the move to bring Kulusevski to Tottenham. Antonio Conte decided to start him just days after he joined Tottenham in an away match against league leaders Manchester City, putting faith in Kulusevski straight away! In his first start, the Swede opened the scoring after just four minutes of play. He later went on to assist the Harry Kane winning goal in stoppage time. Immediately, the Tottenham fans could see that Kulusevski was a “Conte player”, something which has undoubtedly affected his performance for Tottenham.
Dejan Kulusevski is also very fluent in English, as well as other languages. Not only does this help him communicate with his teammates on a football pitch, but this also help him in settling down his personal life in London. This, too, is a useful factor of Kulusevski’s sucess. This opened opportunities straight away.
A key difference between Juventus and Tottenham is the league in which they play in. The Premier League seems more suited for Kulusevski’s style of play. Whilst his stats are proving his class, his performances are also showing their class. Also, the difference between players at Juventus and Tottenham undoubtedly played their part in Kulusevski’s success. Working with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, a duo who have a great connection on and off the pitch, Dejan Kulusevski was certain to fit in with his ability to supply the assists and take his chances. With all respect to Juventus, the Tottenham attack seems to be more threatening and clinical which can help Kulusevski build confidence and grow as a player.
Kulusevski’s mentality for his age is one of the best in European football. Whilst his footballing career keeps getting better, he remains humble and handles the press very well. He is a committed player and one who is dedicated to developing and improving.
Finally, the support of the Tottenham fans to help Kulusevski settle in would have played a part in the 22-year-old’s success. In his early days at Tottenham, the fans had begun making chants about Kulusevski to help his confidence. He has now emerged as a fan’s favourite!
What is next for Kulusevski?
With his mentality and his age both in favour, there is no question that the Swede should be able to push on and achieve even more in a Spurs shirt under Antonio Conte.
